Drome van Pyn

Sproeireën vir my meisie,
’n reënboog glimlag breed.
Ons huppel deur die plassies -
haar hand in myne vergeet.

Kaalvoet sweef ons deur die lug,
ons het van als vergeet.
Maar werklikheid ontbloot hom nou -
in donderstorms reën dit voort.

Haar handjie, sag en fyn,
gly meteens uit myn.
Twee paadjies lei weg, krom
om uit die storms te kom.

Sal ons ná die storm
die paadjie terug kan vind -
waar ons saam in rustigheid
by ’n poel ons hande bind?

Sal ons weer saam kan huppel
deur Moeder Natuur se gang -
deur nóg meer storms en sonskyn?
Of moet ek ophou droom?

Dreams of Pain

A misty rain for my sweet girl,
A rainbow smile begins to swirl.
We skip through puddles side by side,
Her hand in mine, all fears denied.

Barefoot, we soar in quiet delight,
The world and its worries out of sight.
But now reality starts to show -
The thunder roars, the cold winds blow.

Her gentle hand, so soft and slight,
Slips from mine into the night.
Two winding paths now stretch ahead,
Each seeking shelter from storms we dread.

Will we, once the skies are clear,
Find the path that brought us near -
Where peace still pools and fingers bind,
In hands once joined, so soft, so kind?

Will we again be free to roam,
Through nature’s light, through storm and sun?
A dream I dared but may not know -
Or must I let this dream now go?
